Dr. Dorian Mintzer, owner of RevolutionizeRetirement.com, a Boston retirement speaking and coaching firm, recently spoke at the third annual Retirement Coaches Association Conference at Weber's Inn in Ann Arbor, MI, on September 26, 2019.
Mintzer's talk, "Presence, Performance, and Possibilities: New Thinking for Employees at Midlife," was presented with Gillian Leithman, Ph.D. Integrating aspects about ageism and internalized ageism, research regarding the brain as well as the mind-body connection, and incorporating work by Dr. Brene Brown, Dr. Amy Cuddy and Dr. Irminia Ibaarra, Drs. Mintzer and Leithman offered an approach that stresses the need for a shifting mindset in how coaches work with their clients as they consider options in their work-life.
The Retirement Coaches Association Conference brings coaches, HR Professionals, and financial advisors together to brainstorm and discuss trends and opportunities in the non-financial aspects of retirement planning and living. The Retirement Coaches Association was founded by Robert Laura, The Retirement Activist, after he spent several years interacting with coaches, financial professionals, human resource professionals, academics and many others and recognized the need to bring this specialized group of practitioners together.
When asked about the impact of this year's conference, Laura described the growing industry of Retirement Coaching as both energized and trending. He added, "More and more individuals, couples, and financial professionals are realizing how important it is to develop a plan for the non-financial aspects of retirement on things like replacing your work identity, filling your time, staying relevant and connected, as well as mentally and physically active. So, we are seeing increases in membership, media coverage, and coaching engagements.
At the conference, we invite the top talent and people who are making a difference in people's lives as they work to and through retirement. We were excited to have both Dr. Dori and Dr. Gill return this year and co-present on mid-life employees. It was a dynamic and eye-opening presentation that left the members wanting more in terms of helping aging workers thrive before retirement."
