It is more than ironic that Amazon, one of the truly non-conformist, innovative organizations of this century, has decided to enforce an antediluvian belief of requiring people to be present on work sites 40 hours a week (itself a highly arbitrary and antiquated number). Musk has tried to enforce this at SpaceX, as well.
This is like developing automobiles to be totally pollution free, buy hitching them to horses (we still use “horsepower” metrics), and then forgetting about all that manure.
