The San Francisco Writers' Foundation, the division of the 501(c)3 nonprofit San Francisco Writers Conference that supports the written arts both regionally and nationwide, today announced the selection of the Book Industry Charitable Foundation as the co-beneficiary of their 2018 benefit auction series.

Auction coordinator Gordon Warnock said of Binc Foundation, "They're a natural fit for the program, which seeks to bolster the local literary community in San Francisco and around the US. Last year, we supported libraries by partnering with EveryLibrary, and this year, we're supporting local bookstores through Binc."

Binc is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides assistance to bookstore employees who have a demonstrated financial need arising from severe hardship and/or emergency circumstances, including 24 victims of 5 natural disasters in 2017. Since its inception, the organization has provided more than $6.5 million in assistance and scholarships to more than 7,300 families.

"We couldn't be more honored to be named the charity for this prestigious organization, said Pam French executive director of Binc. "As we help more booksellers and their families each year through life's toughest situations our need to become financially sustainable also increases.  This opportunity to partner with SFWC is incredible. In addition to helping Binc achieve financial stability, partnering with SFWC is a great way to continue to grow awareness. Authors are among our greatest advocates because they spend a lot of time around booksellers, and can point booksellers to Binc."
