SAN FRANCISCO WRITING FOR CHANGE CONFERENCE

Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Unitarian Universalist Center in San Francisco

The San Francisco Bay Area is crawling with serious thinkers and brilliant writers. Now in its fifth year, the San Francisco Writing for Change Conference brings them together in hopes that a new book or a thought-provoking blog will help change the world for the better. The event has become an annual event for nonfiction writers who want to make a difference.* The SFW4C event has launched the careers of several bestselling authors over the years as it freely disseminates information about the changing world of publishing…changes that make it possible for great ideas to be read almost instantaneously by millions globally.

The San Francisco Writing for Change Conference is a crash course designed to get nonfiction works published in the most appropriate formats available to writers today including blogs, ebooks and traditional books. The event will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Unitarian Universalist Center (at the corner of Geary and Franklin) in San Francisco. www.SFWritingforChange.org

A keynoter at this year's event will be Dr. Jean Shinoda Bolen, Moving Toward the Millionth Circle, the leading advocate for the United Nations' World Conference on Women. Presenters also include Charlotte Ashlock, Digital Producer/Editor at Berrett-Koehler; Nina Amir, Write Nonfiction NOW!; Jim Azevedo, Smashwords; Kirk Boyd, 2048:Humanity's Agreement to Live Together; Joel Friedlander, Marin Bookworks; and literary agents Andy Ross and Mike Larsen. (See website for complete list.) In addition to keynotes, sessions and panels throughout the day, the event allows attendees to pitch their ideas and get feedback from agents and editors.

The San Francisco Writing for Change conference creates an atmosphere where inspiring ideas are exchanged and relationships are created to help writers advance their careers. Since it is both highly effective and affordable, it sells out quickly each year. The registration fee is $125 through September 30th, $149 in October. The event also encourages interaction and discussion that continues after the official end of the day at a no-host dinner following the event. Details: www.sfwritingforchange.org.

Michael Larsen, a local literary agent and co-director of the prestigious San Francisco Writers Conference, envisioned a new event that would encourage passionate writers to produce quality nonfiction with the potential to change the world for the better. The first San Francisco Writing for Change conference was held in Grace Cathedral in 2007. Since then, the SFW4C has been held biannually. *This year the demand for seats at the event has become so strong and the need to 'update' writers on trends and the newest technology for publishing so urgent, the decision was made that the SFW4C will be held annually.

The San Francisco Writing for Change conference is produced by the San Francisco Writers Conference, a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Co-directors are Michael Larsen and Elizabeth Pomada.
