SignLanguagePrintables.com has two new categories of fingerspelling signs: colorable baby sign language signs and full-color baby sign language illustrations.
"A lot of toddlers who are pre-verbal can still learn to communicate using sign language," said Kevin Savetz, the site's creator. "It can eliminate miscommunication and frustration, and help teach children to use their words at a young age."
The colorful baby signs generally feature the same happy kid with brown hair and an orange sweater. He provides the signs and gestures for nearly 50 basic infant words. These include important terms like "Mom," "Dad," "Eat," "Poop," and "Down," which can help a baby indicate what he or she wants. There are also more advanced words, like "Medicine," "Airplane," "Play," "Happy," and "Thank You." These can be displayed in the baby's room, near play areas, or in a nursery for a useful lesson.
To add a fun twist, the same words and pictures are also available as outline baby signs. These are also good for communication lessons, but they can be used as art activities and coloring projects as well. Toddlers can learn the word and color the picture at the same time.
SignLanguagePrintables.com features 241 sign language signs in American Sign Language (ASL). The alphabet signs can be obtained with or without labels for memorizing purposes. All of the printables are free to download and print as a PDF file. The entire sign language collection can also be downloaded instantly for only $9.
"I highly recommend getting the collection," Savetz said. "It's handy to have the whole packet for instructional purposes."
There are more than 90 sites in the FreePrintable.net family of free printables sites created by Savetz Publishing, Inc., a company devoted to creating useful and informative web sites of interest to consumers and small businesses.
