Signorelli Cites Startling Research on Lost Sales Time to Stress Importance of Reclaiming It

STILLWATER, MN-April 13, 2011)

For small business owners, entrepreneurs, and other self-employed professionals, time is literally money. With the onerous requirements of running and promoting a business, time spent actually selling a product or service can take a back seat. Anthony Signorelli, Twin Cities area self-employment consultant and sales-force effectiveness expert, recently announced the results of a study conducted by a large Minneapolis-based corporation that revealed some startling statistics. In his latest blog post on www.newrulesofselfemployment.com, Signorelli leverages these results to highlight the importance of making changes in the way professionals think about their time every day.

"Average sales people spend less than 21% of their time in actual sales activities and one quarter to one third of their time handling administrative tasks. For entrepreneurs, it's even worse," notes Signorelli. "Aside from common practices to enhance sales and marketing, self-employed professionals have responsibility for everything else in the business. People issues, technology issues, financing issues—all of it comes down to them. The good news is it only takes a small change to realize a big return."

In his blog, Signorelli offers advice on how to use elimination and delegation techniques to shift non-productive time in administrative activities to productive time in sales activities. He also explains how moving 10% of time from non-productive to productive can yield a sales increase of 50%. "Ten percent is a small shift in business practices, particularly for such a huge impact!" says Signorelli. By visiting his blog, professionals can find additional information about elimination and delegation techniques and advice on using the techniques in practice.

Signorelli is the founder of the New Rules of Self Employment. He is also an entrepreneur, a consultant in sales force effectiveness and process design for major corporations, and the author of several books and articles on these subjects. Information on the New Rules of Self Employment is available on his website: www.newrulesofselfemployment.com.
