Want to know the number one reason why members don’t engage with your membership?
Overwhelm.
Overwhelm can happen a number of ways.
You have so much to offer your members. So many ways that you can help them get the outcome they desire.
The problem is, to quote Jim Rohn,
“You’re sending ducks to eagle school.”
You have so many great things inside your membership.
You know you can help and serve a lot of people.
So you end up giving them all you have.
And then they get overwhelmed.
There’s a reason that ducks and eagles don’t flock together.
So why fight it?
Don’t make your membership a “one size fits all.”
Identify the ducks and the eagles.
Chances are you’re trying to serve them in the same manner. And in doing so, both are going to get overwhelmed (or even frustrated).
There’s an easy solution to this.
Send your ducks to duck school and send your eagles to eagle school.
Have a multiple levels for your membership program so that you can serve people where they are.
As hard as I’ve tried, I’ve never been able to take an eagle and make them a duck. Or take a duck and turn them into an eagle.
But, I’ve been able to help a lot of eagles soar and help a lot of ducks gain strength and both are equally valuable and rewarding.
So to sum it all up, “birds of a feather, flock together.”
It’s up to you to make sure that you’re serving your flock (your membership) in the best way possible.
And when you do this, you and your members will accomplish greater things.
