Today on September 18th, 2022 The House of England in Balboa Park will host an event in its courtyard at the International Cottages. The House of Scotland will join its members, volunteers, media, the Mayor and park visitors and local media to a public celebration of the life, long reign and recent passing of Elizabeth the 2nd, former Queen of England (memorable and iconic queen for more than70 years).
Events will be held on the following schedule:
From 7:45-8am there will be a live airing of the event on ABC local TV and later at 12pm- 1pm sharp a House of Scotland official celebration including Peggy and Hamish Yuile from the House of Scotland Pipe and Drum Band (SDHOSPB) playing Amazing Grace as opening music for the remembrance and tribute.
San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria will speak for the occasion along with media coverage and speakers.
The House of Scotland members have been invited to bring the family, dress up in kilts and sashes wearing their colors to take a part in history. For those who stop by the HOS cottage there is a condolence sign in sheet that will be sent to the Royal Family! Come in and post your regards and memories.
All House of Scotland Members, Cottage Volunteers, and Band were invited to the House of England patio to gather in a formal commencement to memorialize the 2nd Elizabethan era and give a sense of recognition for Elizabeth, her dedication, style, and insight which served Britain well and created the Commonwealth, led England through perilous times and international relationships in the States including California. For many she will be sorely missed, and for others marked as creating a day of remembrance of a time the world moved towards working together and finding its pluck to survive and build back better for generations.
An Ionic figurehead, a mother, and a leader for good or tough times …leading with grace and strength throughout and bidding us to remember to hold until better times do return.
