Stephen Covey’s quote featured in this week’s Monday Motivator, nails it: “Most of us spend too much time on what is urgent and not on what is important.”

It’s a wake-up call. We get so caught up in emails, deadlines, and quick fixes that we neglect what truly matters—our long-term goals, relationships, and personal growth. Don’t let the urgent hijack your life. Shift your focus to what’s important before it’s too late. Use this holiday break to consider a shift…

3 Tips to Prioritize What Matters:

  1. Use the 80/20 rule.
Focus on the 20% of tasks that create 80% of your results. Prioritize activities that align with your values and long-term goals.
  2. Schedule the important first.
Block out time for what truly matters—family, self-care, personal growth—before filling your day with “urgent” distractions.
  3. Learn to say no.
Not everything deserves your attention. Politely decline tasks or commitments that don’t align with your priorities, and protect your time for what counts.
