Keeper Memorials, an award-winning digital memorialization platform, has leveraged their Living Memorial profiles to expand Veterans Legacy Memorial (VLM), empowering Veterans to share their own stories and preserve their legacies for future generations.
This feature, called “Your Story, Your Legacy,” is powered by Keeper’s online memorial platform and was developed through a collaborative partnership between the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ National Cemetery Administration, Keeper Memorials, GovCIO, and dbITpro.
“Your Story, Your Legacy” provides Veterans with a personal space to share their own life stories, ensuring their legacy lives on. Veterans approved for pre-need eligibility for burial in a VA national cemetery can now access the new “Your Story, Your Legacy” feature privately and securely on VLM, where they can upload photos, biographies, and life milestones to share their personal and military stories on a dedicated profile page powered by Keeper’s industry-recognized online memorial platform.
Any uploaded content will be securely kept by VA until the Veteran has passed and VA approves a request for a burial or memorial benefit. After approval, the Veteran’s content will be made public on a VLM online memorial page.
Launched with a shared mission to safeguard and share Veteran legacies in 2019, the Veterans Legacy Memorial currently commemorates nearly 10 million Veterans through dedicated online memorial pages. VLM uses Keeper Memorials’s digital memorialization platform to enable loved ones to share photos, tributes, biographies, directions to final resting places, and more, offering a meaningful way to celebrate and preserve the legacy of Veterans.
“The ‘Your Story, Your Legacy’ expansion transforms VLM into more than a memorial platform for deceased Veterans,” said President of Keeper Memorials Mandy Benoualid. “It’s a personalized archive of Veterans’ contributions to history.”
Keeper Memorials’ participation in the expansion of VLM is a continuation of their guiding mission: to offer easier ways for individuals to plan their legacy and share their story in their own words.
By connecting communities through shared history and honoring those who have served, VLM exemplifies how technology can preserve stories, expand knowledge, and provide personalized ways to celebrate each Veteran’s legacy. To learn more, visit the “Your Story, Your Legacy” landing page here.
