Premiere Networks Overnight Star George Noory is This Week’s Guest on Harrison Podcast. The host of Premiere Networks’ long-running overnight show “Coast-to-Coast AM” is this week’s guest on the award-winning PodcastOne series “The Michael Harrison Interview.” Noory, a seven-time best-selling author, is about to celebrate his 20th anniversary as host of the program which he assumed on January 1, 2003, replacing the late Art Bell. He has subsequently built the show into the most-listened-to overnight radio program in North America, which attracts millions of listeners on more than 640 stations nationwide. It has even recently spawned its own branded podcast network. The program features standard discussions about news and current events but also delves into the world of conspiracy theories, paranormal phenomena, time travel, alien abductions, and all things curious and unexplained. Each night, Noory welcomes guests and callers from all walks of life, while providing what he describes as a “judgment-free forum for ideas beyond the mainstream.” Harrison and Noory engage in a deep dive conversation about everything from the state of news/talk radio and the widespread media growth of conspiracy theories to two of the hottest issues in the science community: “the Fermi Paradox,” and “what existed before the ‘Big Bang?’” Don’t miss this! To listen to the podcast in its entirety, please click here.

SportsMap Network to Launch ‘First Name Sports’ Afternoon Show. The new afternoon drive program “First Name Sports” – starring Jeff Michael and Greg Frank – premieres on SportsMap Radio Network on January 2 airing from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm ET. Frank previously served as co-host of SportsMap Radio’s

“Fred Nation.” Michael hosted “The Rundown” each weekday morning on the network. Michael says, “What a time to be in this business! While I’m sad to be moving on from ‘The Rundown,’ I am so excited to be working with Greg on ‘First Name Sports.’ I promise this will be the most fast-paced and energetic four hours in sports talk radio.” Frank adds, “If future Hall of Famers like Tom Brady, Derrick Henry and Chris Paul can all have success with two first names, then so can a couple of sports talk hosts.” At the same time, SportsMap announces that four Vegas Stats & Information Network (VSIN) programs are debuting on the network in January. SportsMap is owned by Gow Media. Company founder and CEO David Gow states, “Adding the most trusted voices in sports gambling media to our richly talented and diverse roster of personalities, we are building a lineup that’s the best in the business.”

TALKERS News NotesPhilly sports blog Crossing Broad is reporting that Audacy sports talk WIP-FM, Philadelphia will make a major announcement today (12/21) at 3:00 pm ET. Writer Kevin Kinkead says that

with Joe DeCarmara and Jon Ritchie leaving the midday show to replace the retiring Angelo Cataldi, this could be about the midday show. He writes, “The rumor going around is that [evening host] Joe Giglio is in the driver’s seat to replace Joe DeCamara from 10 to 2, but they were apparently looking for a second host to replace Jon Ritchie. Hugh Douglas’ name came up, which I believe was first reported by Jeff Blumenthal at the Philadelphia Business Journal. Just rumors though! I don’t have any confirmation one way or another. The other thing floating around is that Johnny Marks is currently working without a contract, so there may be a resolution on that front. I’m not sure a contract renewal would qualify as a ‘major announcement,’ but who knows. Keep in mind that if Giglio moves, then they need to replace him on the evening shift.”…..In a year-end report on its performance, ESPN says, “In 2022, ESPN continued to build a strategic path forward, while connecting with audiences in innovative ways. Throughout the year, ESPN successfully reached sports fans in record numbers and expanded its reach through a multi-platform ecosystem across linear, streaming, digital and social outlets.” ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro states, “Sports fans hold ESPN to the highest standard, and 2022 showed once again how committed we are to delivering for them. We brought the very best offerings to every conceivable sports-related environment and experience, and often did so in record numbers. On top of that, we developed innovations and secured new agreements that will drive a successful future for ESPN and The Walt Disney Company. In an ever-changing and competitive landscape, ESPN continues to lead through a focus on quality, creativity and an inclusive culture.”…..GBH News – the Boston-based public media news organization – announces that will continue a long tradition of broadcasting its “Ask the Governor” and “Ask the AG” segments with commitments from Massachusetts Governor-elect Maura Healey (pictured at right) and Attorney General-elect Andrea Campbell to appear monthly on Boston Public Radio with co-hosts Jim Braude and Margery Eagan. Healey will be the third consecutive governor of Massachusetts to participate in these segments and was the first to appear live at the GBH Studio at the Boston Public Library, where everyday citizens can ask her questions in person. GBH News executive editor Lee Hillstates, “‘Ask the Governor’ and ‘Ask the AG’ put our audience in a direct democratic dialogue with influential decision-makers. These segments represent a core mission of our newsroom: to hold elected officials accountable to the people they represent and to promote civic competence across our region.”
