A singer by the name of Ingrid Andress apparently just performed the worst rendition of the Star Spangled Banner in history, with the possible exception of Roseanne Barr’s historically dreadful performance. (But she was trying for satire.)
The finest I ever heard, of course, was by Whitney Houston, who brought tears to my eyes and, as I understand it, had perfect pitch.
Ms. Andress has been nominated for a Grammy, so I supposes he has some talent in different musical genres. Of course, you’d think someone would have asked to hear her sing the anthem first, and/or she would have sung it herself and listened to what it sounded like.
Talent outs. We need the best people for important responsibilities. And they need to have passed some tests. Just because a doctor has graduated from an accredited medical school, and has passed certain tests, and has been certified by the state, doesn’t mean that person will be a great doctor. But the chances are that such a person will be far better than someone who didn’t go to medical school at all!
