Writing to Be Understood: What Works and Why, by Anne Janzer, received a Writing and Publishing Gold Medal in the 2019 Independent Publisher Book Awards.
Writing to Be Understood is a practical guide to effective nonfiction writing, with a focus on how and why different techniques connect with readers. The book includes writing advice from best-selling authors, including Daniel Pink and Nir Eyal, as well as numerous subject matter experts in fields from psychology, medical and science writing, and opinion writing.
The Independent Publisher Book Awards, also known as the IPPYs, recognize deserving titles from independent authors and publishers.
"I am thrilled that the judges awarded this book a gold medal," said author Anne Janzer. "Nonfiction often gets less attention than fiction in writing circles, yet I believe strongly that our complicated, divided world needs more writers who can communicate about nuanced topics. This book is my contribution to that objective." Janzer is the author of three other books, including The Writer's Process and Subscription Marketing.
Writing to Be Understood, published by Cuesta Park Consulting, is available in paperback, hardcover, and ebook formats from most retailers. To celebrate this award, the ebook is discounted to 99 cents through Friday, May 31, 2019.
