1) CORONAVIRUS STORY ARC: What's Next? Communications Events to Expect in a Pandemic (Infographic)
Rebecca Solnit, Author
The story goes that when my grandmother was a young woman she would get a live, fresh carp and put it in the bathtub around the Jewish holidays and then begin the two-day process of turning it into gefilte fish. I'm 62 and have never tasted anything but store-bought gefilte fish. Who has the time? And while those who have tasted gefilte fish know it isn't worth the two days of labor, many other things are, from fresh baked bread and home made ice cream to husbanding the log pile and gardening. For all the terrible things this pandemic is, it is also a gift of time. We now have the gift of time, lots of it, to do what our far more resourceful, usually far more isolated grandparents did. You didn't buy it, you made it.
If humor is tragedy plus time our modern lifestyle is convenience plus money. We have all forgotten (never learned in most cases) how to needle point, make our own soap or fix just about anything we use every day. I am not suggesting we make everything from scratch, but we could. Up until a week ago, we could order almost anything we wanted and knew it would be at our door in 48 hours or less. With convenience came mass amnesia. We are dependent on the app.

2) Coronavirus + Televangelists = Deadly Mix
….an informant visited Trinity Foundation and told us stories about the apparent contradictions of a prominent televangelist. While promoting himself as a faith healer, the televangelist is secretly a germaphobe. He limited contact with his employees while preaching that we shouldn't have fear.
In contrast, Italian Catholic priest Giuseppe Berardelli recently died from the coronavirus after voluntarily giving his respirator to a younger person struggling with same virus. Berardelli's sacrificial life decision is a bold picture of John 15:13, which says, "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends"
As the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic has grown, televangelists and so-called prophets have exploited the tragic health situation with false prophecies and fundraising appeals. The Apostle Paul urges believers to test prophecies in 1 Thessalonians 5:20-21. Let's take a look at some of them.

4) How Jewish Funerals are Impacted by COVID-19
As more people die during the COVID-19 pandemic, the impact of the CDC guidelines extends to funeral directors, cemeterians, and cremationists who serve families of the dead. Jewish funeral traditions involve the community in keeping the body company, preparing the body for burial, and coming together to comfort the mourners.
Putting the community at a distance goes against centuries of Jewish funeral traditions. Yet in these unprecedented times, we must physically distance ourselves, even in mourning. Here is a statement by Jewish funeral director Syd Waldman, Waldman Funeral Care about the steps he is taking to keep the public safe.

5) The Moment to End Surprise Billing: Coronavirus Has Exposed A Problem That's A Scourge on American Health Care
Imagine returning home from China at the height of the coronavirus outbreak, only to face a bone-chilling reality: You're beginning to fall ill. This terrifying experience is precisely the situation Miami native Osmel Martinez Azcue found himself in just last month. Following a work trip to the illness-riddled region, Azcue started developing flu-like symptoms — many of which are shared between the common flu and COVID-19, better known as the coronavirus.
Azcue had the presence of mind to do the right thing. He checked into Jackson Memorial Hospital and alerted the medical staff that he could potentially be infected with the coronavirus. There, he was quarantined, tested and forced to wait for the results. The blood test, thankfully, provided good news. Azcue didn't have the coronavirus; he would just have to battle the flu.
But unfortunately, he wasn't yet out of the woods.
Two weeks following his coronavirus scare, Azcue received more bad news in the form of a surprise medical bill totaling $3,270. His insurance agreed to cover a portion of the cost, but only if he could provide three years of health records to prove his flu didn't stem from a preexisting condition. Despite already paying a sizable $180 per month for health insurance, Azcue was still on the hook for $1,400 in unexpected medical expenses.
The worst part? Azcue's run-in with surprise medical billing isn't unique, and according to reports, soon his coronavirus scare won't be, either.

6) Ten ways businesses are helping you during coronavirus
As the combination of isolation and bad news about the coronavirus pandemic depresses Americans, it is vital to look for the silver lining. The good news is that businesses from coast to coast and around the world are performing good deeds, whether civic-minded or profit-driven, that are making people's lives better.
Here are just a few examples:
Apple -- Food Lion – 3M, etc
Acton Institute Inc , Grand Rapids, MI

7) COVID-19 is ratcheting up consumer anxiety about future events, but there are silver linings for the sports and entertainment industry
All industries have been impactedby the coronavirus's spread, but live sports and entertainment events have absorbeda large portion of the impact of social distancing orders.
As empty stadiums, canceledtours and postponements of Olympic proportions continue to make headlines, sportsand entertainment industry stakeholders are left wondering: what does thefuture of events look like? What should it look like?
Performance Research, aleading sports and event research, insights and consulting firm, has introducedthe first wave of its Impact of COVID-19 on Live Events Study, conductedwith national online sampling partner Full Circle Research Co.
The study surveyed over 1,000representative U.S. consumers from Full Circle's research panel between March23 and March 26 and includes findings on how consumer perceptions of thepandemic will impact engagement with live sports and entertainment events.
Results indicate that aftersocial distancing restrictions have been loosened and events are cleared assafe to attend, event stakeholders should expect dips in attendance figures –at least initially. When respondentswere asked if they will attend "Fewer," "About The Same Number" or "More"events once they are safe to attend, the highest percentage (44%) predictedthey will attend fewer, while 38% reported their attendance won't be impacted;the remaining 18% indicated they will attend more events.

8) Federal Bureau of Prisons Utilization of Home Confinement COVID-19
The Attorney General issued a memorandum today to the Federal Bureau of Prisons officials. Given the COVID-19 crisis, BOP officials will be making decisions on possibly releasing eligible inmates to Home Confinement.
The criteria for such releases in many ways mirrors what is in place inside the First Step Act. Below are criteria noted in the Memorandum as a baseliine for prison officials. Releases are on a case-by-case basis, with an emphasis on non-violent, elderly and vulnerable individuals. Open release to see Some of the discretionary factors:

9) Coronavirus: Unlike 9/11 - We're Scaring Ourselves To Death!
After 9/11, we were encouraged to go out and support each other, but with coronavirus, we're being panicked and ordered to isolate - despite the fact that isolation has a death rate ultimately higher than the virus.

10) The Handling of The Coronavirus Pandemic Provides A Lesson on How Not To Make A PR Crisis Worse For All Types Of Crises.
As someone whose first PR job was with a political agency, where I learned on-the-job lessons not taught in communication's schools about how to deal with the media and approach problems that changed on a daily basis, I have long said that paying attention to the happenings on the political scene provides a tuition-free Master's Class in public relations.
Among the most important lessons, years before PR crises specialists advised clients to tell the truth (but not necessarily the whole truth and nothing but most of the truth) political PR operatives knew that trying to hide the truth often leads to making a situation worse. Google how President Nixon attempted to conceal the truth during the Watergate scandal. More recently, President Clinton was impeached for lying under oath about his affair with Monica Lewinski. And President Trump was impeached for soliciting foreign interference to help his 2020 re-election and then instructing his colleagues to ignore subpoenas for documents and testimony, obstructing the inquiry. Obviously, not coming clean made these individuals' problems worse. Telling the truth might have resulted in a mere slap on the hand.
