He thus advised email marketers to monitor their efforts closely so that they may achieve the best possible results. Compared to those who do not, marketers who do in fact analyze the performance of their email applications with regard to specific campaigns are significantly more satisfied with their campaign performance, a survey of 159 email marketers across the UK, France and Germany recently found. Sixty-five percent of email marketers that actually measure their email performance are satisfied with their campaigns, according to findings in the report, Integrating Web Analytics With Email Marketing To Improve Campaign Performance?compared to the 30 percent among email marketers who do not.

Notably, according to the report (commissioned by Nedstat and conducted by Forrester Consulting), U.K. email marketers are more sophisticated than their U.S. counterparts: Whereas only 15 percent in the U.S. monitor the frequency with which email recipients visit a referenced website, 42 percent in the UK do so.

"Email marketing campaigns can always be improved, and tracking activities play a large role," said Kearney. "The nuts and bolts of tracking, however, can be daunting, which tends to dissuade marketers from analyzing the data as they should.
