See the Classic La Bohéme at Wolf Trap

One of the most popular operas in the world is coming to Wolf Trap Friday evening. Puccini’s story of Parisian bohemians includes beautiful melodies and relatable characters. No matter how many times you see the opera, it never gets old. Before the performance, don’t miss radio host and producer Mary Jo Heath (aka the “Voice of the Met”) on the Farmhouse Lawn for a pre-show talk. Call Me Maybe for Nats Tickets this Weekend

One hit wonder and two-time Grammy nominee Carly Rae Jepsen is the second in a summer-long lineup of the Nationals post-game Summer Concert Series. The pop singer most famous for the earworm “Call Me Maybe” will be playing a free concert after the Nationals take on the Cincinnati Reds Friday at 6:45 p.m. More information on how to get tickets can be found here.

If you ever wanted to learn about what life was like without our modern luxuries like smartphones, tv, music streaming, and more, visit Mount Vernon this weekend. Staff and special guests will help attendees learn how Americans stayed entertained in the 18th century. Guests can learn how to play colonial card games, see what was on the menu at taverns, and learn how taverns served as a place to send and receive mail in colonial America. Dionne Warwick Comes to the Warner

Famed singer Dionne Warwick is headed to the Warner Theatre Friday at 8 p.m. Known for hits like “I Say a Little Prayer” and “Walk on By,” Warwick has served as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization. Tickets for the concert can be found here.
Nas Joins the National Symphony Orchestra

Hip-hop icon Nas will be performing the album “Illmatic” in its entirety with the National Symphony Orchestra. The album, released 30 years ago, was the debut of Nas and is noted as one of the best hip-hop records of all time. More information on the show can be found here.

Open now through January 12, see portraits from Gordon Parks, considered to be one of the greatest photographers of the 20th century. The exhibit looks at Parks’ photography and how he created a new mode of portraiture post-World War II. He applied this to photos of conductor Leonard Bernstein, boxer Muhammad Ali, a Detroit couple and more. More information on the exhibit can be found here.
