It’s hard to walk around the streets of Georgetown in the summer months without seeing a cute dog. We have so many! So, The Georgetowner asked some local dogs to introduce themselves and they had a lot to share.

Cassie

When 7-year-old Cavalier Cassie was rescued, her name was originally Catie, but Cassie’s owner said, “We’re big Marvel fans so I would have loved picking something related to that, and Antman has a daughter named Cassie so it worked!”

Cassie’s owner describes her personality as funny and sassy, but also mentioned that “she is really shy, curious and loving.”

“She really loves me and my fiancé who I adopted her with, but like many rescues, she was really hesitant about men for a while when we first adopted her,” her owner added. “Now depending on her mood she’ll either walk up to every stranger on our walk attempting to get pets, or she’ll ignore people she knows well.”

At home, Cassie is described as “super loving and always so excited to see us when we get home, and like any Cavalier, her favorite resting spot is on one of our laps.”

Nico

When finding a name for adorable Miniature Dachshund Nico, his owners mentioned wanting “to name him something short that fit his personality. Something unique to dogs as well as easily pronounced in Spanish since we speak both Spanish and English!”

Only 2 years old, Nico is “shy at first when meeting new people but opens up so quickly. He is obsessed with food and squirrels, even mentioning the word gets him looking around searching for them. He acts just like a teenager. He loves to stay in bed under the blankets in the morning for as long as he can.”

Keep an eye out for Nico around Georgetown and follow him on Instagram @nico.minisausage for some super cute content!

Harper

Harper’s Instagram bio says she’s a “material gurl, sock enthusiast, & master of RBF!” She’s a 3 year old Micro Mini Labradoodle who “has the goofiest, sassiest little personality,” said her owner. “Once I saw her, I knew she was a Harper!”

The perfect Instagram personality, Harper “is a true diva and loves attention. If you pull out your camera she knows exactly what to do, she loves to pose! (Only in exchange for treats though). Her funniest traits are how she will snatch a sock off of anyone’s foot that steps into her house and hoards them in her room. She also loves to throw her chewies up in the air instead of eating them and hides them. We sometimes find them under our pillows at night. She’s my best friend and loves to adventure if you ever see us make sure to say hi!!”

Indie & Cinco

Siblings Indie and Cinco are Boykin Spaniels who have so much fun together running around Georgetown. Their owner mentions, “They both have such unique personalities. Indie is a bit more reserved, and Cinco has so much energy.”

“They play together all day and love to go on long walks in Rock Creek Park. Cinco is obsessed with chewing his orange ball and he could play fetch in the park for hours. Indie is super silly! She howls at ambulances when they pass on the street and always wants to be pet by everyone. They make a great dynamic duo.”
