The University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry is now affiliated with the Engel International Implant Institute to open up the training program to dentists throughout the country, making Detroit an even more important center in
dental implant education.
Dr. Timothy Kosinski, a Bingham Farms dentist, has offered the elite
dental implant training program through the Engel International Implant Institute (formerly the Ladera Ranch Implant Institute) to Michigan licensed dentists for the past three years.
"The affiliation is not only a great thing for the profession of dentistry but is a wonderful opportunity for Detroit and the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School," says Dr. Kosinski. "Detroit can be proud to be a part of this intensive training program that has a major influence on dentistry and provides the chance for residents struggling financially to get the highest quality implants therapy."
This dynamic three-day educational series allows dentists the opportunity to learn the most current and effective dental implant techniques first hand under the direction of several leading dental implant mentors.
Lecture, hands on participation and a demonstration of a live dental implant surgery fill the first two days of the curriculum and on the third day the participants actually place a dental implant on one of Dr. Kosinski's pre-selected patients at his office in an over-the-shoulder scenario under the direction of one of the mentor dentists.
Dr. Kosinski is the only dentist in Michigan selected to provide this training program through the Engel International Implant Institute. Created in 2004 by Dr. Todd Engel, the Institute has gained national notoriety for its unique style of teaching and clinical results, so much so that it is now being taught internationally. The philosophy behind the instructive over the shoulder mentoring is to guide the attending dentist, step by step through the entire process with a personal coach by their side and by using an actual implant patient.
Dr. Kosinski also was chosen by Dr. Engle to initiate the UDM affiliated training by providing the first two days of the three-day program at the VistaTech Center at Schoolcraft College, 18600 Haggerty north of Six Mile in Livonia, MI 48152 and the third live surgery day at the SmileCreator (www.SmileCreator.net) office at 31000 Telegraph, Ste. 170 Bingham Farms, Michigan 48025. Attendance will be limited to 10 dentists. The next program will run March 10-12, 2011.
"My experience with this program, here at our office and throughout the country, has been incredible," says Dr. Kosinski, "The participants I have mentored have been extremely positive and appreciative of having the opportunity to actually place an implant under direct supervision. This is a wonderful learning experience for any dentist who is inclined to incorporate dental implant placement into their practices."
"The class size was excellent. By far the best course I've ever taken and I can immediately apply the information. I believe that it will help to change and grow my practice. My money was well spent here," is a typical evaluation given by training participants.
