Twitter (officially called X, but I still prefer calling it Twitter) is still one of the best platforms for building a personal brand. Among other things, it provides huge value for users who want to quickly engage with their audience and share quick updates. Unfortunately, managing your tweets and maximizing their reach can be challenging.
Luckily, several Twitter extensions for Google Chrome can help streamline your tweeting process, improve productivity, and even boost engagement. In this post, I’ll introduce you to thirteen powerful extensions that can help you tweet better.
I often hear people complain about Twitter’s crowded UI. Truth be told, with all the ads, suggestions, search bars, and trending topics, you quickly lose focus on posts on your feed. Luckily, we have a few extensions that can solve this issue.
With the following tools, you can change the information on your screen. These extensions modify or completely eliminate certain elements allowing you to focus on things that matter. I especially like that they’re blocking sponsored posts, which are useless for most users.

As you could’ve guessed from its name, Minimal Theme is meant to eliminate distraction and provide the best possible user experience. The popular Twitter extension allows you to remove ads, view count from tweets, and engagement under posts. I also love that it removes suggestions, as they’re often unnecessary.
With Minimal Theme, you can customize the left navigation and other default setting. Basically, the software will remove just about anything to make browsing simplistic. For example, Minimal Theme eliminates borders, leaving you with a basic page that allows you to focus on tweets.
Another thing I liked was the writer mode. As you’re creating tweets, the tool will remove everything from the page, helping you focus on the writing part. The AI-powered Twitter Chrome extension has an analytics dashboard where you can track tweet count, follower count, profile clicks, and impressions over time.

This Twitter Ads Chrome extension removes the most annoying distractions that pop up while browsing the social media platform. Specifically, the tool removes all promoted tweets and promoted posts. This makes it especially valuable if you’re seeing the same ads over and over again.
I also need to mention that the popular Twitter extension works supports several languages. So, it will remove the distraction regardless of your geolocation. Hide Twitter Ads also removes native promotions, such as “Upgrade to Premium+.” Like most other browser extensions on this list, the tool is completely free.

The thing I love about Control Panel is how much flexibility it provides to users. Its main purpose is to give you a cleaner menu on desktop and mobile devices, eliminating and modifying many screen elements. For example, it allows you to eliminate the primary navigation items and the “More” menu, which tend to be some of the most obstructive elements.
With Control Panel, you can switch to the regular font in the navigation menu. The tool gives you immediate access to “Add Muted Word” features and fine-tunes your dropdown menus. Overall, the extension makes your Twitter feed much more polished and removes some of the annoying algorithmic content and ads.
Among other things, Control Panel swaps Twitter Blue checks with a logo. This isn’t the biggest change, but it will still improve the appearance of your timeline content. Similar to Minimal Theme, this custom browser extension removes the “For You” section, suggestions, promotions, and retweets.

As the name suggests, this Twitter extension changes the primary navigation menu to its former appearance. In other words, it makes your menus look the same way they looked in 2015 or 2018 (depending on what you prefer). This is a great addition for users who still can’t get a hang of Twitter’s new visuals.
I must mention that the extension doesn’t introduce CSS to basic Twitter. Instead, it introduces a completely new client that will replace the current one. As a result, you won’t lose any speed with this extension. Of course, to access these features, you need to be logged into the social media app.
The best thing about the old format is that it makes it easier to control your stats. When logged into your Twitter profile, you can easily browse relevant tweets, the current follower count, the accounts you’re following, and favorites. However, unlike other entries on the list, the extension doesn’t remove views under tweets and other obstructive elements.

By using Calm Twitter, you eliminate all the noise destroying your social media experience. First and foremost, the Twitter extension eliminates the “Explore” tab to the left. Another exceptional feature is the removal of trends. With this extension, you’ll no longer be subjected to news and other popular but annoying topics.
Calm Twitter removes all interaction numbers below the tweets. When you install the extension, you’ll no longer see Twitter Blue replies, retweets, likes, view count, and bookmarks. An additional feature I loved is the removal of follower counts; you no longer can see the number of people following an account and the number of users that the account follows.
The following category of extension provides various benefits for users. For example, you can use these tools to shorten links, save and categorize bookmarks, find accounts quickly, and download videos. The best thing is that most of them are free, and it takes mere seconds to add them to your account.

As with other entries on the list, you can get Dewey via the browser extension store. While this tool isn’t as popular as the other entries, it does a great job tracking your bookmark tweets. Specifically, the program creates a separate page that stores all your bookmarks from the social media, allowing you to quickly browse compelling Twitter posts.
I love how Dewey goes about organizing short and long-form content. It provides folders and nested folders where you can store all these bookmarks. You’re also able to add tags to make search simpler. The tool has an export feature that allows you to transfer the entire bookmark library in an instant.

Share on Twitter is one of the smallest and most focused extensions on the list. In a nutshell, you can use the tool to copy just about any piece of text and share it on the platform. All you need to do is mark the link, text, or another content element and click on the extension to automatically place it within your posts or replies.

Twitter Account Detector is the best, simplest way to compile Twitter accounts. The software works by going through all users on a specific Twitter page (whether it’s feed or inside of a post) and presenting them in the upper right corner.
Once you generate a list of active users, you can follow them with a single click of a button. The software might not be that effective for casual users, but it shines for large influencers. With Twitter Account Detector, you can perform large outreach campaigns or create lists of users for various purposes.

Bitly is a fantastic extension that most people have heard of. Although the tool is great for Twitter, it can also assist you with various digital marketing tasks. Specifically, this tool shortens any type of link and presents it in a more readable, human-friendly form.
Bitly is perfect for long, convoluted links that take up lots of space within your tweets. With this tool, you significantly increase engagement, which will quickly scale your followership. However, it’s worth mentioning that the tool ads “bit.ly” at the end of the link, which can be removed if you get a premium version.
On top of that, the software can assist you in generating QR codes. Use these codes for various Twitter ad campaigns, eliminating otherwise long and annoying processes.

Once you install Twitter Video Downloader to your Google Chrome, you’ll have the option to grab any video from this social media. After the installation, a small button under tweets will appear in the same row as comments, retweets, and likes. By clicking on this “Download” button, a video attached to the post will be automatically downloaded to your device.
The best thing about this tool is its simplicity. If you didn’t have this extension, you would have to manually download videos by copy-pasting tweet URLs into third-party tools. The custom Twitter extension is vital for digital marketers and, specifically, video content creators who often repurpose posts from social media.
