Disclaimer: This blog post is sponsored by Adobe Express, but all opinions and experiences are 100% mine!

As an Adobe Express Ambassador, I often get asked what are my favorite features of this awesome tool. Now, to be clear, I am a Fractional CMO, not a graphic designer, and I will often hire help when I need it for clients or professional work. That being said, as a digital marketer, content creator, or entrepreneur today, being able to create basic and attractive designs is almost a non negotiable skill that you need to succeed.

Enter Adobe Express.

I was initially intimidated by any tool developed by Adobe because I know the complexity that their tools such as Adobe Photoshop have. I later learned that Adobe Express was actually developed to be used by anyone, not necessarily an Adobe power user, and as a brand ambassador, I have seen how they have taken user feedback to create the easiest-to-use and fullest feature set of any graphic tool on the market.

In other words, if I can use it to easily and successfully design images and be in full control of the output, so can you!

What Exactly is Adobe Express?

adobe express user interface

I like to refer to Adobe Express as a user-friendly graphic design platform.

Think of it as a simplified tool that anyone can use to quickly create beautiful visuals with absolutely no design experience required. They offer ready-made templates, drag-and-drop features, and intuitive interfaces that empower people to easily produce professional-looking social media posts, graphics, presentations, videos, and more.

They’re essentially design shortcuts that put professional-level visuals within everyone’s reach, a conclusion I believe you will also reach by the end of this blog post!

My 7 Favorite Adobe Express Features

Seeing is believing, so let me walk you through my favorite Adobe Express features so that you can get a better feel for the tool and understand its value similar to how I do.

1. 150,000+ High Quality Templates

Nobody likes to start a graphic design from a blank slate.

That’s where templates come in.

Adobe Express templates are hand-picked by the design experts at Adobe to help your content get noticed and look great every time. And there are more than 150,000 to choose from, as you can see below!

157,123 Adobe Express templates

What I love about the templates is that they are organized by their output dimensions as you can see on the left side, a very convenient way to get started so that you know that when you download your final design, it will be in the correct dimensions.

With so many styles in so many sizes to choose from, you will undoubtedly find one that meets your needs that will help accelerate your creation of a great looking design.

2. Hundreds of Millions of Adobe Stock Assets (Not to Mention 30,000+ Plus Adobe Fonts!)

The same reason why using an Adobe product at first intimidated me is what I love most about Adobe Express now. Adobe is simply the most creative company on Earth, and using Adobe Express allows you tap into that creativity by accessing all of the assets that Adobe has accumulated over the years.

Adobe Express lets you use over 280 million high-quality Adobe Stock images, videos, audio, and more. This means that if you are missing a certain image or B-roll that you want to include in your design or video, chances are Adobe has you covered.

Just for fun, a search in Adobe Stock for images of Japanese food uncovered nearly 1.8 million results! And, as you can see, they are all of the highest quality!

While Adobe Stock assets are cool, so are Adobe Fonts. Adobe Express support more than 30,000 professional fonts from the Adobe Fonts library to make your content look uniquely great.

3. Full Branding Control

Keep your brand consistently looking sharp every time by adding your own colors and fonts to images, designs, and pictures with just one click.

Adobe Express gives you the ability to create your own brand library within the app by defining exact colors, fonts, as well as logos that you would like to use in your designs. Once you create this, you can easily apply the colors and fonts of your brand to any design you are working on inside of Adobe Express. This guarantees consistency of your brand, especially if you have a larger team or are working with freelancers. And we all know that consistency is one of the hallmarks of branding, right?

4. Ease of Creating a Video from a Static Image

I talked about this in my podcast episode Instagram’s Top Tips Shared During My Call with Them, but a representative from Meta once told me that every static image should be transformed into a reel to take advantage of the increased visibility that these videos get on the Instagram platform when compared to static images.

The easiest way I’ve found to do this is to simply upload my image to Adobe Express, add text, use the Adobe Express text animation features, and I have now created a nice-looking reel like in the screenshot below in less than one minute! Really!

What is really cool is that because I chose Instagram Reel as the type of image I wanted to create, when I chose an Adobe Stock image and added it to the canvas, it already added it as a five second video. However, static image videos make no sense and have no appeal, which is why I have found adding the animated text makes the reel more engaging and adds more context to the image.

5. Ease of Creating Bulk Transitions between Video Scenes

It’s important to note that Adobe Express has added video editing features that make it perfect for taking your videos and compiling them into a reel. You can also take advantage of the Adobe Stock videos and put your own spin on them. That is what I did in the video I created in the screenshot below

One of the problems with compiling videos together is making the transitions look good. What I love about Adobe Express is not only the fact that they give you a good selection of the basic transitions, but they also allow you to apply one transition to all transitions automatically. This both saves time and ensures consistency in the visual experience.

As a result, using Adobe Stock video, audio, text animations, video animations (on the ramen snippet!), and transitions, I was able to create the below video in no time! And I didn’t have to go to Japan to create it! (lol)

6. Complex Edits in a Single Click

If you’re creating content that you are going to publish to different social media platforms, you understand the need to create your images in different sizes. This can be a hassle and often requires us to reinvent the wheel each time we need to replicate that image for a different dimension in order to make it look good.

Not anymore!

Adobe Express features some crazy single click edit features, my favorite being the ability to easily create resized images from the image you are creating over a variety of dimension sizes in one simple click, as you can witness below!

example of resizing images for multiple sizes with one click using Adobe Express.

Another crazy single click edit is the ability to bulk create content using a .csv file import. For instance, let’s say you wanted to create a cool looking background template that could showcase some quotes you would like to share. Create the template and prepare a .csv file featuring each quote on a separate line. Then, with a single click of the Bulk Create button, your images will be created featuring a different quote on each image! To get a better feel for this functionality, check out the video below:

7. Commercially Safe Generative AI

While some of the above features definitely use AI in the background, I didn’t even mention one of Adobe Express’s killer features: Its use of the Adobe Firefly generative AI technology.

A prompt of “A platter of colorful sushi on a decorative Japanese platter on a bar counter inside of a Japanese restaurant with a smiling sushi chef standing behind the counter” produced the below image in around five seconds:

Not bad, right? Obviously it provides me alternative options which I can continue to tweak to perfection, but if you are looking to quickly create high quality generative AI images, this alone is a great reason to use Adobe Express.

I have found that when compared to other tools, Adobe Express gives you better control, great quality, and finer detail so you don’t have to worry about mistakes in your AI-made content. If you have ever dealt with AI image generators, you know how painful those mistakes can be and lack of control you have!

What I didn’t mention is that the Adobe Firefly generative AI technology is safe for commercial usage, so your brand stays protected when using any of the below generative AI tools inside of Adobe Express:

  • Generate Image
  • Insert Object
  • Remove Object
  • Generate Template
  • Generate Text Effects

This is because from the beginning, Adobe developed this technology based on its own creative assets, not by mining content from the web like other tools might have done. Check out the image below to understand Adobe’s ethics policy with regards to their generative AI technology:
