Experts have raised concerns about electrical grids and hospitals being the subject of increased cyber attacks. This warning comes on the heels of recently released data that indicate cyber events around the world have seen internal information security breaches escalate to an unprecedented level over the past 18 months. A just release report from the Georgia Tech Information Security Centre said the threats applied to water and gas systems, which are rolling out smart meters and advanced metering infrastructure, and they also warned that hospital infrastructure could be caught up in the attacks either through a direct attack or accidentally.
The Technolytics Institute recognized this threat and created a series of Cyber Defense – Critical Infrastructure Protection programs. These programs are based on the Cyber Commander's Handbook with supporting exercises and materials based on the specific utilities industry sector (gas, water, electric etc.). The program is delivered in multiple formats (self-paced distance learning, and a 1 day and a 3 day classroom) and includes case profiles of recent cyber attacks. This is the first program of its kind and is available for delivery in a classified format.
