Mentor Our Kids' Best Practices Internship Roundtable Announces Speaker Panel

April 18, 2014 - New York, NY – Mentor Our Kids (www.MentorourKids.org), a non-profit organization committed to increasing the quality and quantity of student mentoring internships available through public, private and non-profit firms, today announced the Speaker Panel for its Best Practices Internship Breakfast Roundtable on May 5, 2014 in Mid-Manhattan.
The event is designed to share with company Intern Program Coordinators (IPCs) and Mentors how to maximize the ROI of their programs. The panel includes:
- Barry Cohen is an award-winning resume writer and outplacement career/job coach who has assisted thousands of individuals, including students, welfare mothers and CEO's, to win jobs they really want. He is the author of "Power Interviewing, Killer Cover Letters: How to Get the Job You Really Want!"
- Eileen R. Cohen is the Managing Director, Vice President and Portfolio Manager at J.P. Morgan Asset Management. She's been working with clients on equity investment strategies for most of her career. She serves as a mentor in the Executive on Campus program at Baruch College, where she was received the Alumni Allegiance Award. She is a board member of The National Grid Foundation as well as a member of the advisory council of SASB (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board).
- Joel Greenwald, J.D., is the Managing Partner of the highly respected employment and labor law firm of Greenwald Doherty. A thought leader and speaker on related topics, he has given hundreds of presentations to regional and national trade and professional groups.
- Chason Hecht, an advocate, innovator and expert on employee retention strategies, is the founder and CEO of Retensa, a firm that helps companies on five continents speaking nine languages to retain employees and reduce staff turnover. In his career, he has managed nearly 200 interns.
- Beth Miller is the Assistant Director of Baruch College's Weissman Center for International Business. She has managed the Center's Internship Placement Program since 2002. She develops and facilitates student programs, professional development workshops, and scholarship selections.
Jerry Cahn, Ph.D., J.D., is the moderator. The founder of Mentor Our Kids, he chairs the Presentation Excellence Group which helps leaders realize their potential for success. He has supervised 500+ domestic and international high school, college and graduate interns during his career which includes working for non-profit, government, private and public organizations. An evaluation expert, he conducted the first national study of the needs of handicapped children for Head Start Services (which led to the pilot programs and eventual mainstreaming). He also created the SuperMentoring program to guide new employees on career paths and advance Mentors' executive skills. He is a sought-after speaker on leadership issues and teaches for CUNY.
