Sasscer Hill, the hottest rave in the horse racing/mystery genre, has come out with her third novel in the highly popular Nikki Latrelle series, will participate in the South Carolina Book Festival May 18 & 19, 2013.
The Sea Horse Trade, which takes place mostly at Gulfstream Park track near Miami, combines a single mother's search for the daughter she gave up at birth, an international sex slave ring, a powerful Columbian drug lord, and the taming of a high-strung sometimes evil race horse bred to win.

Sasscer Hill is the granddaughter many times removed of Samuel Ogle, colonial governor of Maryland in the mid-1770s, who is credited with bringing horse racing to North America, staging the first English-style race at Annapolis, Maryland in 1745.
Hill has a rich pedigree in horse racing as an amateur steeplechase jockey, horse farm owner for more than 30 years, breeder and sometime trainer, who rode in fox hunts for 22 years. Among the thoroughbreds she bred and raised is For Love and Honor which won $418,000 in New York racing at Saratoga, Belmont and Aqueduct.
The author's love of horses, experience in steeplechase racing, knowledge of horses and writing style has prompted many book critics to compare Hill with the famous British horse racing mystery writer, Dick Francis.
Part of the tension in Hill's new novel was developed from real-life terror when a thug who'd been arrested seven times for assault with a deadly weapon stalked Hill and her husband over a three year period. Because of injuries from her career as a horsewoman, Hill has given up racing and raising horses and is now a fulltime author in Aiken, SC. Hill is also a citizen activist for the preservation of agricultural lands, wetlands, and historical sites.
