Most professional speakers would have given anything to have appeared in the 2006 blockbuster self-help film, "The Secret." The straight-to-DVD Personal Development phenomenon has grossed more than $65 Million dollars in domestic sales and made household names out of many of its featured speakers and thought leaders.
When "The Secret" was released, the self-help film genre had been born … and in outrageous style ... establishing a bar on inspirational films that few others could even aspire to reach. Suddenly, there were countless self-help/inspirational films hitting the market. They were done in green screen format like "The Secret", but none had the pizazz or magic.
Writer/Producer Robin Jay shares, "Most of what I refer to as 'Secret Wannabes' were very poorly produced and I found they were almost impossible to watch. Everyone wanted to be in a film like 'The Secret', but most of the films that have since been created have fallen woefully short on production value, star quality, and storylines. The speakers and their messages are essentially lost because the movies aren't engaging or interesting enough."
Late in 2010, just a few years after the success of "The Secret", Jay, a Las Vegas resident and President of the Las Vegas Convention Speakers Bureau (LVCSB) tried to convince her visiting cousin Debbie to sit through a self-help film only to have Deb say, "Can we pleeeese go to the casino now, instead of watching this?" Jay realized something dramatic and engaging was missing from self-help films, so she decided to take on the task of raising the bar on self-help movies.
Mission accomplished. Her "Key" films, including "The Keeper of the Keys" and "The Secrets of the Keys", have won several awards and continue to receive rave reviews. The Key Movies feature messages that relate to 7 Keys – or principles: Appreciation, Harmony, Faith, Passion, Courage, Vibration, and Empathy.
Jay has an international distribution deal for "The Secrets of the Keys" and is currently in production on her third film, "Becoming the Keys." She is looking for successful experts or speakers who have a message to share and who like the idea of appearing in an award-winning film series. "We're going back to production in the next few weeks and I'd love to offer viewers a few more amazing stories that would work within the context of this film, particularly those that relate to the Key of Appreciation. Gratitude is really the key to everything good in the world."
"I'm looking for professional speakers who are in front of audiences regularly." Jay explains, "Each expert will receive 1,000 DVDs, so I want someone who is confident they can promote the film and contribute to a collaborative marketing effort once the film is released. This opportunity is definitely not for everyone. I'm looking for powerhouse speakers who are on the verge of becoming huge; the right experts will be able to dramatically elevate their careers and take their message to a higher level by appearing in my newest film. 'Becoming the Keys.'"
"My focus has been to provide motivational speakers with a better marketing platform. With 'Success by Association,' experts who get to appear in a film with recognized thought leaders in the self-help industry will elevate their stature. In other words, 'you are judged by the company you keep.' And, because I own the LVCSB, I have access to some of the biggest speakers in the industry. The Key Films star Jack Canfield, Brian Tracy, John Assaraf, don Miguel Ruiz, Rev. Michael Beckwith, John Gray, Dannion Brinkley, Marci Shimoff, Gloria Loring and more.
"The Secrets of the Keys" is currently in distribution with Beyond Words Publishing, the company that distributes both "The Secret" & "What the Bleep?" – the two most successful films of this genre. Jay's "Key Movies" are not the typical "talking head" documentaries, but instead feature a fictional story & characters encountering top thought leaders who appear in cameos - sharing their wisdom and how it pertains to the 7 Keys.
Jay shares, "My 3rd film, "Becoming the Keys", stars Brian Tracy, don Miguel Ruiz & Dannion Brinkley. I am looking for tomorrow's stars to join the cast that came to Las Vegas for major production in November. Once I know who will round out the cast of experts, I'll schedule a final day of shooting in Las Vegas, NV. Then, just a few months later, I'll announce the VIP Red Carpet Premiere for 'Becoming the Keys.'"
