This trend has been picking up speed over the past two decades, and now there can be no question that older Americans are becoming increasingly interested in launching their own businesses. Whereas in 1996 only roughly 14% of American businesses were started by those aged 55?64, a recent report by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation places the current number at a substantial 23.4%.
