MEDIA ALERT / PHOTO OPPORTUNITY TALENTED TENTH SCHOLARS INDUCTION CEREMONY: A CELEBRATION OF AFRICAN AMERICAN MALE SCHOLARS
The Talented Tenth Project, a program of the George Washington Carver Library Friends, celebrates the accomplishments of African American men in the San Antonio/Bexar County Area. This, first of its kind, endeavor, collects published dissertations from many outstanding male scholars, on a range of topics and fields of study.
The goal of this historic event is to provide local community access to some impressive academic work, which has traditionally been restricted to placement in University libraries and not made readily available to external audiences. Program inductees have been selected after a rigorous application and screening process. As a result, each 2011 inductee will have his dissertation showcased in the Carver Library's Talented Tenth Special Collection.
We invite you to join us for this momentous event!
The inaugural ceremony for the Talented Tenth scholars will be held Friday, August 5, 2011, at the Carver Community Cultural Center, 226 N. Hackberry, San Antonio, Texas 78202 from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m..
